The Shashin-ka restaurant is located on the Opposite side of the Baharini Shopping right next to Kokos Café Bistro on the left-hand side of the building complex. It is a little hidden so spotting it straight away from the main road can be tough however their traditional Shoji Lanterns are a dead giveaway about the Restaurant.

Environment

The Shashin-Ka Restaurant is run by Mr. Sang Il Lee, who is the heartbeat of this authentic Japanese restaurant that has become a go-to spot for many. It’s everything you will expect when one mentions an original fresh and delicious Japanese restaurant. Its Interior is 100% made out of wood with touches of Bamboo everywhere dimmed with beautiful Japanese decorations like their lights or unique little statues that definitely transcend you back in time.

The Restaurant is split into 3 sections

An upstairs dining location that is designed for larger groups but can also be used for individuals depending on the day and its bookings.

The Midsection which are tables on the ground floor that makeup pretty much 60% of the restaurant.

The Bar section is on the ground floor which is designed to sit right by the action and watch Mr. Lee & his team prepare the authentic food in a specular manner. Definitely a highlight.

Food

Shashin-ka Restaurant delivers unbeaten quality across the whole of Diani when it comes to serving up plates of fresh sushi, sashimi, veggie tempura, prawns’ tempura, Teriyaki, and many more incredible dishes. The love and passion are something that you taste and feel straight away from simple things like watching Mr. Lee carefully cut your favorite dishes and roll them up into beautiful sushi rolls right at the bar counter.

Personally, we have experienced and tried almost everything that they offer:

Shashin-ka Combination Jumbo which 24 pieces of Shushi, 16 pieces of Sashimi, 4 tuna rolls, 4 Salmon roll, and 8 different vegetarian rolls which are ideal for friends and family. The Shashin-ka Combination is reduced in size and price depending on needs and wants all the way to 8 Shushi & 8 Sashimi or even picking out your own selected sushi & Sashimi rolls and cheaper price for a light and simple adventure.

They also serve what they call the Omakase which is a full-on meal that includes salad as a starter followed up with Sushi and a Miso Soup and a lovely dessert that usually evolves around fruits. Omakase has 4 different price levels starting with silver to gold than diamond and ultimately leading up to Royal with each level the rarity of ingredients improves. We would recommend this for very special occasions since this is an experience in the arts and crafts of Shushi and Sashimi by Mr. Lee himself.

Besides all the amazing offers that Shashin-ka has, it’s also a perfect large selection of noodles that personally we enjoy for a quick lunch. We recommend the noodle teriyaki with seafood. A huge amount of seafood drenched in homemade sauce severed on a steaming hot plate.

Shashin-ka Restaurant has a fair amount of wine selections from white & reds both sweet and dry that can be purchased by Bottle or Glass. Beers are a norm from both local and important as well as traditional Japanese Kinn Beer for those that want to go oriental. Sodas & Juices and Stronger beverages are available
